What does the Ripserver do?

Where Can I Buy The Ripserver?

What is a NAS device?

NAS stands for a Network-Attached Storage (NAS) device. Once the Ripserver is plugged into a network connection it takes care of storage of up to 1TB of music files and integrates a fully automated ripping system.

What is RAID 1?

RAID 1 creates a mirror (exact) copy of your music on two storage drives. If either drive fails, the other continues to function as a single drive. This offers the user both reliability and storage capabilities in 500GB or 1TB configurations.

What is UPnP support?

Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) support enables network connectivity of your computers and intelligent devices to automatically connect with one another. The Ripserver supports Video UPnP streaming and includes Twonkymedia and Slimserver for media serving to any network connected audio device.

What does DNLA compliant mean?

DNLA stands for Digital Living Network Alliance. The Ripserver is DNLA compliant to be sure you can “easily acquire, store and access digital music from almost anywhere in the home.”

How does the ripping (CD Conversion) work on the Ripserver?

Quality ripping is assured via Ripsure for secure rip modes in both FLAC and MP3, along with quality metadata including cover artwork for each CD. You simply place the CD in the drive and the Ripserver does the rest!

What type of computer is in the Ripserver?

The Ripserver runs a Linux operating system atop an Epia 1GHZ CPU, with 512MB of RAM, and boasts VGA, USB, and PS2 ports.

What type of set-up does the Ripserver require?

The embedded Linux operating platform ensures stability and requires minimal setup via a simple web browser interface. In other words, Ripserver is smart! Just use your favorite web browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) to set it up in a few minutes!

Do I need a monitor or keyboard?

In use, no monitor or keyboard is required - simply insert a CD into the slot loading drive and the CD is converted within a few minutes, added to the media library and available on a network share, and then gently ejected.

Do I have space for all of my CD's on the Ripserver?

Audio files do take up a lot of space. No need to worry anymore! As a very rough guide 100 CD's will take up 10 GB (10,000 MB). Since the Ripserver stores up to1TB you could have more than 250,000 songs! And remember you can add more storage! The Ripserver supports connectivity with additional USB drives and is DNLA Compliant enabling these products to seamlessly interact.

Can you load my existing CDs on my server before shipping it to me?

Absolutely! Please consider our bundles (CD ripping packages with purchase of the Ripserver) and have us take care of your collection so you can simply add to it as you purchase more music.

How do you move already converted content from a Mac/PC to the device?

It’s easy! Just plug it into your network, copy, and paste!

What type of warranty do you provide?

The Ripserver has a 30 day DOA replacement and 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

What's in the box?

The Ripserver, a power cable, an ethernet cable, and a user manual.

I like peace and quiet! Is the Ripserver noisy?

Shhh! Hear that? No? Great! The Ripserver is completely fanless, so you will only ever hear a CD being converted!

What connections are on the back?

USB x 2 , DSUB, RJ45 , audio, serial and PS2

How do I update my Ripserver's software?

With the web browser interface, you can check for updates and download them automatically, just like on your Mac or PC.

I like to be geeky on weekends...what Linux kernel does the Ripserver run?

Ripserver runs Red Hat - it's open under GPL and can be modified however you want if you are so inclined...
